Our communities are independent senior living in the practical sense of the phrase — private apartments, your own front door, your own schedule. What changes is everything you no longer have to maintain. Both are age-qualified for residents 55 and older, are professionally managed by Bissonette Properties, and keep a real person on site rather than a call center three states away.
Taft Farm
A settled, quiet community a half mile from Taft Corners. Close enough to walk out for groceries, a pharmacy or lunch, far enough back from Route 2 to feel like a neighborhood. One and two-bedroom apartments in a single secured building with elevator access throughout.

Pinecrest at Essex
Three buildings on one campus, the newest finished in 2023, set in a natural buffer two miles from the 5 Corners district. This is the more amenity-rich of the two communities: a dining room, games room and an on-site beauty and barber shop mean a lot of the week can happen without getting in the car.

55+ Living in Williston and Essex Junction
Both communities sit in Chittenden County, close enough to each other that residents often look at one and end up choosing the other. Taft Farm is in Williston, off Talcott Road near Route 2. Pinecrest is in Essex Junction, on Susie Wilson Road and at 21 Pinecrest Drive.
What they share is the thing that matters most at this stage: everything you need is a few minutes away, and Interstate 89 is close enough that family can visit without making a day of it. Taft Farm is a mile from the interstate; Pinecrest is four.
Neither is isolated, and neither is on a highway. Both are set back far enough to be quiet, with lawns, gardens and paved paths that get plowed in winter.

What does 55+ actually mean here?
Both Taft Farm and Pinecrest at Essex are age-qualified communities for residents 55 years of age and older. They are market-rate independent senior living apartments — there is no income requirement, no care plan and no buy-in. You rent an apartment the same way you would anywhere else.
Is this assisted living?
No. These are independent living apartments. There is no nursing staff, no meal plan and no personal care on site. Every apartment is wired into a fire and life safety system with emergency pull cords, and both communities have secured entry and elevator access.
What is included in the rent?
Heat, hot water and electricity are included at both communities. Taft Farm also includes basic cable. Pinecrest at Essex includes municipal water and sewer fees plus trash, recycling and compost removal, and one underground parking spot.
Can I bring a pet?
Pets and smoking are not permitted at Taft Farm or Pinecrest at Essex. If a pet is part of the household, ask our team about Gardenside Commons, which is pet friendly.
Is there air conditioning?
It varies by building. At Taft Farm, air conditioners are rented from management for the May–September season. At Pinecrest, ceiling fan and air conditioning installation is available for an additional fee, and heat pump units at 21 Pinecrest Drive are available for a monthly fee.
